Best Marijuana Seed Reviews 2016: Part 1

If you are growing marijuana with your LED lights then you clearly want the best strains for your crop.

When you are growing your bud, if you don’t have the right seed you’ll face complications. It’s senseless to just buy indiscriminately and risk making things more difficult than they need be.

With the best seeds you’ll enjoy a great germination rate. Why leave things to chance and risk a skimpy yield?

There are also other factors to consider when choosing the best marijuana seeds. Flavor and effect are accurately and succinctly outlined here. Think about flowering times, THC content and whether or not the strain is mainly sativa or predominantly indica. Is it auto-flowering or photoperiod?

Choosing a good seed is worthy of proper research.

What, then, are some of the best weed strains available this year?

We will look here in the first part of this two-part article at 5 sativa-dominant strands.

1) Neville’s Haze

nevilles haze seed

The 2016 strain of Neville’s haze packs a punch as expected from a household name.

This tall sativa is almost pure Haze. The parent plants are Northern Lights (a hard-hitting indica) and Haze (a tropical and nearly psychedelic sativa).

The sativa-heavy bud boasts extremely high THC levels and a searching, potent high is delivered.

There is a marked hint of pine cone to the scent. The taste is spicy with a tinge of citrus: sweet and sour with a twist.

In 1998, Neville’s Haze triumphed at the High Times Cannabis Cup. Its reputation has been well-earned and endures today.

As well as the quality of the high, Neville’s Haze can also pay off with a very worthwhile amount of product. It’s a rapid grow, too, ready to harvest in 12 weeks.

This is a strain of marijuana for the connoisseur rather than the novice. Exercise caution!

White Widow is consistently named as one of the top-tier seeds for any grower.

This critically-acclaimed strain was also a proud Cannabis Cup winner back in 1995. Since those days, this mighty plant has continued to enjoy global popularity.

As White Widow nears the end of its flowering stage, white trichome crystals give off a magnificent sheen. This is where the name comes from.

Smoking White Widow, you’ll be hit with an intense and extremely strong, soaring high. THC levels are particularly potent. You’ll notice cerebral effects which can aid creativity.

The flavor is earthy and woody.

Generally, when any product is elevated to a classic, there is just cause. That is certainly the case with White Widow and any serious grower should make room in their grow-op for this tried and true winner.

It’s never been hybridized and you will enjoy large, long leaves covered with resin.

Durban Poison is great for medical marijuana users, too. It can help to combat stress and depression.

Its taste is one of its selling points. There is a sweet cinnamon undertone with a delicious tinge of licorice running through it. The smell is not the pungent odor associated with many sativas but more of a subtle pine scent.

The seeds are extremely straightforward to grow, indoors or out, and you will enjoy an impressive yield with very high quality bud.

    Indica/Sativa: Pure Sativa

4) Mazar

Mazar is another seed which will provide a nice “up” feeling which is also powerful and long lasting. It’s certainly among the best strains available in 2016.

Where this plant is a hybrid, you will also get a sleepy feeling after that high which makes it ideal for users of medical marijuana. Majar also tends to provoke hunger so get the snacks in!

The heritage is the infamous Skunk #1 crossed with Mazar-i-Shariff. The Afghan plant is a very short plant like a Christmas tree which is 100% indica and highly resinous. This upgraded version for 2016 has seen an improvement in both yield and taste.

Flavor-wise, Mazar is earthy and fruity. It has a very unusual combination of heat, spice and sourness in one appetizing package.

Mazar will offer you potency without compromising on volume. It’s best to grow indoors so set up your LED lights and give it a go!

  • THC Level: 20%
    Indica/Sativa: Hybrid

Finishing up the 5 seeds for part 1 of this review, another sativa-heavy offering in the guise of Wonder Woman.

This strain is an awesome new high-volume skunk. It’s a hybrid plant which can grow to a medium height. Genetically, it’s Super Skunk crossed with White Widow.

It’s an extremely versatile plant which imparts a really intense and enlightening buzz.

With Wonder Woman, it’s really a win-win… Your seeds will come to bud in just over two months but not at the expense of yield. Expect around half a kilo. The buds are rock hard and extremely easy to trim.

The skunk-like aroma is unmistakeable and the taste is extremely pungent and laced with a hint of fuel. Try it to believe it.

  • THC Level: 16-20%
    Indica/Sativa: Sativa dominant
    Grow difficulty: Easy
    Yield: 450-550g/m²

As with all choices of seed, it’s tough to pick an outright winner. The purpose of these reviews is to serve up several likely candidates and allow you to choose which best suits your requirements.

It’s always wise to go with White Widow if you are uncertain but all of these 5 strains are first-rate.

Next week we will take a look at another 5 which are more indica-based.
